Aroma
Aromas of pineapple skin, peach cheeks and tangelo, with subtle hints of bergamot, honeysuckle and chamomile.
Palate
Nutmeg, almond, praline and vanilla bean. Fleshy and generous with a taut acid line and moreish succulence.
Tamar Valley chardonnay, full barrel fermentation and 66% new oak. There's richness here for sure, reined in by a pulsing seam of lemony acidity that propels the wine forward with great velocity. Lemon, white peach and grapefruit with a touch of oatmeal, white flowers, crème fraîche, crushed stone, a whiff of sea spray, nutty oak and gentle spice. Lovely. Smoky candle-snuff, nougat, buttery croissant and mealy complexities on the nose. A touch of funky. It has a refined yet rich mouth-feel, the finish dry and cleansing yet long and texturally appealing. The combination of fruit and savoury characters is compelling. Quite a 'worked' style of chardonnay, and very good. Huon Hooke Published 25 Jul 2024James Halliday Published 17 June 2024
A beautiful Chardonnay that glistens and shimmers from the start. Opens with engaging aromas of white peach and cashew with a little rich creaminess. The palate lifts with a fine mix of nutmeg and turmeric, a little lemon pith and cumquat. It was 100% wild fermented with about two-thirds going through malolactic fermentation. It’s a rich and intense wine yet one that retains its pristine precision and fine lingering finish. Ray Jordan June, 2024James Halliday Published 17 June 2024
